  • There are three main parts of the English education system: Primary, secondary, and higher education. At the early age of five, kids must begin attending school. Education is compulsory till the age of ten. Somewhere at the age of eleven, most of the students move to secondary school.
  • Students then may continue with their secondary education for another two years (sixth form), resulting in an A level award in most cases, however other qualifications and courses, such as BTEC credentials and the International Baccalaureate, are available.
  • However, higher education takes the next three years to commence, unlike post-graduation which takes at least 3 years or more.

Foundation Courses

  • As the name goes, it is a one-year foundation course done as a pre-degree program to prepare you for your university courses.

Bachelor's Degree

  • Bachelor's degrees are typically three years long UG degrees that are done just after schooling.

Master's degree

  • The Master's level programs are usually one year long; however with work placement opportunities, it can be finished in two years.


  • One can pursue a doctoral program after completing Masters. Doctoral programs typically last between three and four years, based on study subject and university
